Somerset Long Bay

What it's actually like

Somerset Long Bay is a quiet beach on the West End, in Sandys Parish, backed by a park with a playground and picnic areas and by a nature reserve whose trails lead to freshwater ponds; Go To Bermuda says the nature reserve is managed by the Bermuda Audubon Society.

The local kite community’s spot guide calls it the best kiting spot on the island: not too choppy, quite friendly for beginners, with room to rig on grass. Graykite, a kite school, says it often has the flattest water anywhere on the island.

In the record, each of those months clears 12 knots for three daylight hours on about two days in three or more, and February is the pick at about 82 per cent, roughly 25 days in 30.
