KiteLab says the lagoon has no tides to speak of. No tide data in the pipeline.

Tide data not yet available for this spot. The record holds wind, air and waves, not tide. Until a tide source is connected, the tables above stay empty rather than estimated. What the guide says about tide is on the next page, in words.

The bathing zone, shallows & anemones

Every hazard on the spot page, repeated here in full. Read this before you get wet.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.

EmergenciesIn an emergency call 112. It is free from mobile and fixed phones and reaches the ambulance, fire service and police.
Bathing zoneInside the Stagnone reserve the bathing zone is the 200 metres from the shoreline. During the bathing season, in bathing hours, windsurfers and kitesurfers may not ride in the waters reserved for bathers, and kites may not land on beach concessions. Landing on free beaches away from bathers is allowed at the rider’s own responsibility. Kitesurfing in the reserve is further governed by the district’s ordinance 1/2019.
Centre rules at DPCAt Duotone Pro Center a helmet and impact vest are mandatory for every kitesurfer. The first 100 metres are for launching, landing and walking; move out to 200 metres before riding freely. Access to the spot through the centre costs 10 euros a day.
Shallow water and anemonesThe lagoon is no more than 1 to 1.5 metres deep, so a fall or a jump lands in shallow water. Anemones in the warm water can cause allergic skin reactions, especially on bare legs.
Shallow water and anemones

The lagoon is no more than 1 to 1.5 metres deep, over grassy shallows: a fall or a jump lands in shallow water. Anemones in the warm water can cause allergic skin reactions, especially on bare legs.

The bathing zone and the centre rules

Inside the reserve the bathing zone is the 200 metres from the shoreline, and in the bathing season, in bathing hours, windsurfers and kitesurfers may not ride in it or land kites on beach concessions. At Duotone Pro Center the first 100 metres are for launching and landing, riders move out to 200 metres before riding freely, and a helmet and impact vest are mandatory.

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from icon_eu at 7 km, cell 0.99 km from the spot, December 2022 to September 2026, 3 to 4 years a month, no station correction. The summer thermals the schools describe do not show in it.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share.
01Direction, strength, when it blowsWrittenDirections from DPC Sicily, thermals from KiteLab. Strength and time of day read from the record.
02The month’s recordsRecordThree to four years a month. ERA5 over the same window reads close to the record in winter and lower in summer; treat the shares as a guide until a station check ships.

04Tide windowsMissingNo tide source in the pipeline. KiteLab says the lagoon has no tides.

The record

Hourly wind, 2022 to 2026, from DWD ICON-EU via Open-Meteo: a 7 km grid, read at the cell 1.0 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over three to four years.

What we could not source for Lo Stagnone, Marsala

Crowds by month: no count exists for Lo Stagnone yet. Ordinance 1/2019 of the Marsala maritime district, which governs kitesurfing in the reserve. The reserve’s own rules on riding. A water quality classification, and a first-hand reading of the local vibe. A station check on the wind record, which reads lighter in summer than the schools describe. Surveyed launch coordinates. A measured water temperature. A licensed photograph.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.
