Bathing zonesThe commune’s beach order for the 2025 season allowed windsurfing, kitesurfing and wing foiling only outside the supervised bathing zones. The Coussoules lifeguard post was open from 1 July to 31 August 2025, 11:00 to 18:30. Check the 2026 order and the beach signs.
The lagoonOn the Étang de Salses-Leucate the shellfish-farming zone is closed to all craft beyond the 300-metre coastal strip, and kitesurfing is prohibited in a further marked zone off Leucate’s shore. There are oyster beds in the lagoon.
Offshore TramontaneThe Tramontane blows offshore at Les Coussoules. A rider or a kite in trouble drifts away from the beach and out to sea. Do not ride out alone in an offshore wind.
