Malcesine, Lake Garda

What it's actually like

Malcesine sits on the north-east shore of Lake Garda, in the province of Verona. WWWind Square, a windsurf, wing and kite centre, has its own private beach and lawn on the Gardesana just north of the town, about 200 metres north of the car ferry port. The lake here runs on two thermal winds: the Pelèr from the north in the morning, and the Ora from the south from around midday.

WindChaser shows no wind figures for Malcesine. Both models behind this page, a 1.5 km weather model grid and ERA5, miss the two thermals that the tourism office and the centre describe, so their figures are withheld. The Malcesine tourism office says the Pelèr blows from the night through sunrise, usually at 20 knots and often up to 30, and drops in the late morning; the Ora starts between noon and 1pm on normal days and dies away at sunset, strongest in spring and early summer.

The centre sits about 180 metres north of the Retellino bus park, right next to the paragliding landing place for Monte Baldo, with free parking for its guests.
