La Ventana is a village on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, about an hour’s drive from La Paz. It faces Isla Cerralvo across the channel, and the schools on the beach describe the gap between the Cacachilas mountains and the island as a venturi that speeds up the afternoon thermal.
The wind comes from the north or north-west, side-shore along a long sandy beach, and the bay is big enough that it blows riders back towards the shore.
November to March are the windy months in WindChaser’s record, and January is the pick, with more than three days in four clearing 12 knots for three daylight hours.
ERA5 puts the share of rideable days 40.1 points lower here, and no weather station has settled it, so treat these figures as a guide.
