Åshavn, Kristiansand

What it's actually like

Åshavn is a bay at the far west of Flekkerøy, the island about 10 km south of the centre of Kristiansand on Norway’s southern coast, with a small-boat harbour of 25 berths. NP7’s Sørlandet guide describes it as a windsurf club spot with an easy entrance and beautiful scenery, at its best in a west to west-south-westerly.

The club is Kristiansand Brettseilerklubb, founded in 2005 as Flekkerøy Brettseilerklubb, which lists Åshavn as its main location and sails slalom and racing there.

The record counts wind right through the year here, with little between the months: every month clears 12 knots for three daylight hours or more on at least four days in ten.
