Per-launch tide windows

West beach
Low—Mid—High—

The guide notes wide flats at low tide. Which state suits which level is unknown until tide data arrives.

Village beach

The guide notes low-tide sandbars and rocks in front of ClubVentos. Hours per state unknown until tide data arrives.

Tide data not yet available for this spot. The record holds wind, air and waves, not tide. Until a tide source is connected, the tables above stay empty rather than estimated. What the guide says about tide is on the next page, in words.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.

Park exclusion zonesJericoacoara is a national park. Its management plan keeps kitesurfing out of two marked zones, off Praia da Malhada and Ponta das Pedras and off the beach north-west of the Duna do Pôr do Sol. It keeps windsurfing out of the stretch between Sítio do Papai Noel and the dune fence, and all wind sports out of a 50 m strip at Praia da Malhada. The plan says the zones are to be marked with flagged buoys on the water and signs on land, and it makes riding conditional on the safety equipment each sport needs. Check the markers and ask a school before you launch.
No confirmed rescue serviceThe park plan allows motorised boats for rescue, but no rescue service on the water is confirmed. Ride within your limits and be able to self-rescue.
Vehicles on the shorelineSand buggies and 4x4s drive the shoreline. Always have someone spotting traffic when you rig and launch.
Low-tide rocks

Sharp rocks show at low tide on the sand in front of ClubVentos, on the village side. Sand bottom elsewhere. Walk your launch line at low water once before you ride it.

Channels that move

The river mouths at Guriú and Tatajuba shift their channels between seasons and the sandbars off the village beach move with them. Ask a local before you ride a new tide.

Reading the map

West is left, the trades come from the right. Kites launch west of the village towards the big dune; windsurfers and wingers launch from the village beach. The park keeps kites out of marked zones on both sides, drawn here only roughly, so follow the beach markers. The downwinder runs west with the wind, from the village to Guriú.

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from ecmwf_ifs at 9 km, cell 3.94 km from the spot, no correction.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share. No longer the Kite share raised to a curve (WC-024 phase 4).
01Speed bands, hour-of-day sharesRecordCounted from the same hourly series as the shares: daylight hours in each 4 kt band, and the share of days over the threshold at each hour from 8am to 6pm. The same charts as the spot page.
01Direction, strength, when it blowsWrittenThe guide’s reading. Derivable from the record: predominant bearing, session mean, peak hours.
02The month’s recordsRecordMonth detail. ECMWF IFS HRES at 9 km, the cell 3.9 km from the spot; gusts on the sand can exceed it.
03Stays, schools and kitWrittenChecked on each business’s own website or a named rider source, and stays also on Google, most recently on 30 September 2026. Price bands only where a price is published.
04Tide windowsMissingNo tide source in the pipeline. The section renders its empty state.
05Hazards, rocks, channelsWrittenReviewed safety copy from the guide and park zoning. Locations described, not surveyed.
06Airports, access, packing, kite sizesWrittenSizes are derived from the session mean, not a fitted quiver. Water temperature is partly record.
07Hand-drawn mapsWrittenDrawn by eye. Illustrative, not surveyed. No coordinates held for the launches.

The record

Hourly wind, 2017 to 2026, from ECMWF IFS HRES via Open-Meteo: a 9 km grid, read at the cell 3.9 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over nine to ten years.

What we could not source for Jericoacoara

Tide tables. Windsurf and wing thresholds run through the hourly record. Operator contacts and brands stocked. Coordinates for the launches. Where any of these is missing above, the section says so rather than filling itself.
