Kitesurf areaThe Brazilian Navy standard for sport and recreation, NORMAM-211, gives the area for kitesurfing as from 200 metres beyond the beach baseline, which on sea beaches is the line where the waves break. It leaves it to state or municipal government to set out how beach waters are shared. Ask a school where to launch and ride out.
Reef at the pointWaves break over the reef at the tip of the bay. Know where the reef lies before riding there.
Vehicles on the beachBuggies and 4x4s drive the beach to Praia da Ponta. Watch for traffic on the sand when rigging and launching.
Rescue coverClub Ventos lists support and rescue cars and a team of lifeguards for its own riders. No public lifeguard for the beach is named by any source read.
EmergenciesIn an emergency call 193, the fire brigade, free across Brazil.
The reef at the point and the shallows

Waves break over the reef at the tip of the bay, near Club Ventos, and gradually turn to flat water inside. At low to mid tide the bay is flat and shallow. Know where the reef lies before riding there, and check the tide before choosing where to ride.

The kite area, beach traffic and cover

Sources, and their limits

Where each section of this report comes from. Record is measured. Modelled is computed by a formula because no measurement exists yet; it looks like data and is not. Written is WindChaser's editorial copy, compiled from the sources below.

§WhatSourceLimit
01Kite month sharesRecordCounted at 12 kt for three daylight hours from ecmwf_ifs (ECMWF IFS HRES) at 9 km, cell 4.25 km from the spot, January 2017 to September 2026, 9 to 10 years a month, no station correction.
01Windsurf and Wing month sharesRecordCounted at 13 kt (Windsurf) and 12 kt (Wing) from the same series, by the same rule as the Kite share.
01Direction, strength, when it blowsWrittenSide-onshore, from Windsurf Magazine, the schools and the spot guides, which differ on the compass point from north-east to south-east. Strength and time of day read from the record.
02The month’s recordsRecordA 9 km global model, not a station. Not checked against a weather station or a second model: treat the shares as a guide.
03Stays, schools and kitWrittenSchools and stays confirmed on their own websites, and one pousada with no website on its Google listing, most recently on 30 September 2026. Two stays a school names could not be confirmed and are left out. One price band, from Club Ventos’s published rental prices.
04Tide windowsMissingNo tide source in the pipeline. The section renders its empty state.
05Hazards, reef, traffic and rulesWrittenThe kite area from NORMAM-211, read first hand for the Cumbuco record on 13 September 2026. The emergency number from the Defesa Civil do Paraná. Physical hazards from the schools and Windsurf Magazine, not surveyed. No municipal rule found.

MapsMissingNo drawn maps for this spot. No surveyed coordinates for the launches.

The record

Hourly wind, 2017 to 2026, from ECMWF IFS HRES via Open-Meteo: a 9 km grid, read at the cell 4.3 km from the spot. It knows the wind over the cell, not the gust on the sand in front of you, and it knows the bearing, not the coastline: "side-onshore" is a rider's reading of the bearing. Each month is counted over nine to ten years.

What we could not source for Icaraizinho

An agreed compass point for the trade wind: the sources run from north-east to south-east. Any municipal or harbour master’s rule for the beach at Icaraí. Crowds by month: the guides disagree (Kite Insider calls August to November busy, Kitesurf Culture and a local school say few people ride there) and no count exists. A water quality classification, and a first-hand reading of the local vibe. Tide tables and per-launch tide windows. A station check on the wind record. Surveyed launch coordinates. A licensed photograph of riding here. Where any of these is missing above, the section says so rather than filling itself.

Conditions change. Check local rules and conditions before you ride.
