Hurghada

What it's actually like

Yalla! That is how people here say let's go, and you will hear it down the beach when the wind fills in. The spot is the lagoon at Al Ahyaa, on the north side of Hurghada on the road to El Gouna: turquoise water, a sandy bottom you can stand on for hundreds of metres, a reef outside keeping the open sea off, and a row of kite centres along the beach.

That warm, flat water is a kind place to get up on a board for the first time.

The guides put the season at May to October, most often 15 to 25 knots, with the odd day of 30 to 35 for the advanced crew.

Sep · Medium

The lagoon is shared out between the centres, each with its own beach, and the guides find it less crowded than other Hurghada spots. Some centres keep separate zones for beginners and advanced riders.
