The Poetto is Cagliari’s city beach, a long run of sand on the south coast of Sardinia that runs about 8 km from the Sella del Diavolo headland east to the coast of Quartu Sant’Elena. Its stretches are named after the bus stops along the front, and the first stop is by Marina Piccola, the small harbour under the headland.
That is where the Windsurfing Club Cagliari has its base. From June to September the Poetto is also where the city goes out at night, with live music and clubs along the front.
The windiest run in the record is March to May, when about one day in three clears 12 knots for three daylight hours or more, with April the pick at 35 per cent.

From June to mid-September the Poetto fills with bathers and has no launch corridor, SurfTribe says, which makes it impracticable for kiting. WindChaser has no crowd count for the rest of the year yet.
