Bulabog, Boracay

What it's actually like

Bulabog Beach is on the east coast of Boracay, the island’s kite beach. A shallow lagoon runs along it for about 2.6 km, protected by a coral barrier reef that breaks the ocean swell, and inside the reef the water is chest deep and flat. The north-east monsoon, the Amihan, blows onshore across it from November.

November to April are the windy months in WindChaser’s record, and February is the pick, with nine days in ten clearing 12 knots for three daylight hours. The mean over those rideable hours runs from 15 to 17 knots. The monsoon does not wait for the afternoon: in February the share of windy days is highest from 8am to noon and eases a little towards evening. The record also shows wind in July and August, but that is the south-west monsoon, the Habagat, when Habagat Kiteboarding says the kiting moves round to White Beach. It is a 9 km model with no station check yet.
